Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga helps relieve the effects of chronic stress in several ways.  First, the use of props as described below provide a completely supportive environment for total relaxation.  Second, each restorative sequence is designed to move the spine in all directions.  The poses gently twist the column both left and right. Third, a well-sequenced restorative practice also includes an inverted pose which reverses the effects of gravity.  By changing the relationship of the legs to gravity, fluids are returned to the upper body and heart function is enhanced.

The article was written by Nancy Adamson, LMFT, Marriage and Family Therapist at the Sepulveda Vet Center. Yoga Warriors teacher, Barry Schweiger, is active teaching and working with the veterans at the Sepulveda Vet Center.

Women in the Military –Remembering their Strength

I just want to take a moment out of the day to appreciate and focus on our military women. It is incredible the lengths these women are willing to go to maintain freedom for their country. Whether they are on the front line or in intelligence, it is equally admirable. Whether or not, they have a husband or a child at home, I can only imagine the sacrifices they make and internal battle they have to fight. Yoga Warriors is appreciative of it is military women. We are honored to have them in class and we want our women to feel comfortable inside and outside of our healing environment.
